I finally dug my bike out of the shed, pumped up the tires, adjusted the brakes, and went on a tour of my new little town. Actually, I went well outside the town limits and explored the area for a bit over an hour.
The apple blossoms are out (Apple Blossom Festival starts this week!), I met a cow, and everything was just too lovely for words.
I had my first snow day of the year today! While visiting my Mom in the Annapolis Valley, Scotty and I stayed in while 20 cm of snow came down around us. He made me a delicious lunch. We watched movies and baked with Mom. I updated my blog. What more could you ask for?
This past October, Scotty and I got together some friends and family and drove to the Annapolis Valley for a day of good honest work at Foote Family Farm. Of course, not everything turned out exactly how we planned, but isn’t that always the way of it?
In the past month or so, Scotty and I have both been getting out and being more active. In fact, Scotty went nearly every weekend either hiking or climbing around Beijing both in the great outdoors and at indoor climbing walls. For me, these trips were a much-needed breath of fresh air and a great way to see more of the province of Beijing.
I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on the positives and the exciting highlights of my time in China and our travels in Asia, but I want to take a moment to recognize that it hasn’t been all sunshine and roses.
